Introducing the All-New 2020 Corvette

In July of 2019, Chevrolet revealed images of the 2020 Stingray – the first-ever production mid-engine Corvette and a re-imagined model that will bring new levels of performance, technology, craftsmanship and luxury.

“Corvette has always represented the pinnacle of innovation and boundary-pushing at GM. The traditional front-engine vehicle reached its limits of performance, necessitating the new layout . . . In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history. Customers are going to be thrilled with our focus on details and performance across the board.” – GM President Mark Reuss

Inspired Design

Unmistakably a Corvette, the 2020 Stingray has a bold, futuristic design that conveys motion and power from every angle. The use of premium materials and attention to detail were critical when designing this all-new performance Chevrolet. Additional design features include low profile headlamps, large side air intakes for engine cooling and aerodynamic performance, large rear hatch that showcases the engine with seven air vents, and dual-element LED taillights with animated turn signals.

Owners can completely personalize their 2020 Stingray with more options available than before. The all-new Corvette comes with 12 exterior colors, six interior color themes, six seat belt colors and two optional stitch packages. In addition, owners can choose between three seat options: GT1, GT2 and Competition Sport.

Inspired Performance

For the 2020 Stingray, there have been improvements to the overall handling of the Corvette. The structure of the vehicle has been designed around its backbone: the center tunnel. This allows the light, stiff structure to serve as the foundation for the suspension system to perform in an optimized manner. Solid with a connected-to-the-road feel, drivers of the Corvette Stingray will feel minimal vibrations at high speeds or on long road trips.

“Our mission was to develop a new type of sports car, combining the successful attributes of Corvette with the performance and driving experience of mid-engine supercars . . . ” – Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer

Inside the 2020 Corvette Stingray is Chevrolet’s next-generation 6.2L Small Block V8 LT2 engine which produces 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque when equipped with performance exhaust – the most horsepower and torque of any entry Corvette!

The biggest update to the Corvette can be found in the lubrication and ventilation system. A Chevrolet first, the base Stingray will use an engine-mounted dry sump oil system and three scavenge pumps for improved track performance.

We can’t wait to see the 2020 Corvette Stingray in action, which goes into production in late 2019.

Don’t Forget Your Seat Belt!

Chevrolet is taking direct aim at the rising car crash related deaths amongst teens with their latest addition to the Teen Driver system: Buckle to Drive. Available through Teen Driver mode, Buckle to Drive builds upon the Chevrolet mission to help teen drivers stay safe on the road.

Did you know that buckling your seat belt is the number one action drivers can take to protect themselves in the crash? Teens continue to have the lowest rates of seat belt use.

An industry first, Buckle to Drive reminds young drivers to buckle up before driving. Now a standard feature in the 2020 Traverse, Buckle to Drive prevents the driver home shifting out of “PARK” if the driver’s seat belt is not buckled.

“Buckle to Drive is Chevrolet’s latest feature designed to encourage young drivers to develop safe driving habits right from the start . . . Buckle to Drive is embedded in Chevrolet’s Teen Driver system and is aimed at helping remind teens to buckle up every time they get behind the wheel.” – Tricia Morrow, Chevrolet safety engineer

What is Teen Driver mode?

  • Teen Driver offers an industry-first in-vehicle report card that helps encourage safe driving habits and provides a way for parents and teens to discuss safe driving habits.
  • When active, Teen Driver mode automatically mutes the radio until the driver and front passenger seat belts are fastened.
  • Parents can select a speed warning that, if exceeded, activates a visual and audible warning.
  • Teen Driver mode is now available on the 2020 Traverse, Malibu and Colorado.

Want to learn more about Teen Driver mode and Buckle to Drive? Our expert Chevrolet sales team would be happy to answer all of your questions.

Hands on the Wheel: Chevrolet’s “Call Me Out” App takes aim at Distracted Driving

Chevrolet launches a new smartphone app, Call Me Out, to help re

Did you know that in 2016, 37,000 deaths on the road were attributed to distracted driving? According to a recent Research Now survey, 84% of people say that driving while handling a phone is dangerous, 90% of people admit to doing it. With 95% of Americans owning cell phones, Chevrolet is taking direct aim at distracted driving with the launch of their “Call Me Out” app.

“Call Me Out” combines to extremely influential forces – technology and the people we love. Available to drivers over the age of 18, “Call Me Out” is designed to leverage positive influence of peer pressure on behavior – such as distracted driving. Chevrolet encourages users to have friends, family and mentors record a positive message to remind one another to keep their hands on the wheel . . . and off their phones.

“As the father of two daughters, I am keenly aware of all the perils that my children face out in the world on a daily basis, and that is why it is so important for GM and Chevrolet to offer technologies that help all of us become safer drivers . . ..” – Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet

How does “Call Me Out” work?

Once the app is downloaded, it uses the phone’s accelerometer and GPS to detect when the phone is physically picked up while travelling at speeds above 5 mph. Once detected, the app will automatically play personalized messages from friends, family or mentors reminding the driver to keep their eyes on the road.

“Call Me Out” includes gamification, featuring a scoreboard and rankings. The less the phone is handled while driving, the higher the score on the leaderboard. Talk about a little friendly (and safe) competition!

“Chevy’s Call Me Out app gives drivers another great tool to reinforce good driving behaviors — and as a mom of a teenage daughter, I personally know how important it is to model good driving behaviors and encourage others to do the same.” – Tricia Morrow, Chevy safety engineer

All-new 2019 Chevrolet Blazer vs. the 2019 Ford Edge

Arriving in Chevrolet dealerships across the U.S. in early 2019, the all-new Blazer is a versatile and stylish addition to the Chevrolet utility vehicle lineup. Sculpted on the inside and out, the 2019 Blazer comes equipped with a 3.6L engine (RS & Premier models) and available All-Wheel Drive making it the perfect sporty SUV for all of your adventures.

MotorTrend recently shared an article (“Refreshing or Revolting: 2019 Chevrolet Blazer vs. Ford Edge“) which inspired us to compare the all-new Chevrolet Blazer to its SUV segment competitor: the 2019 Ford Edge.

When it comes to first impressions, the Chevrolet Blazer is both striking and sleek. Exterior design was the main focus for the Blazer and it sets new standards for how SUVs should look. Buyers of the 2019 Blazer can choose between 20-inch and 21-inch wheels, as well as a variety of chrome accents on the Premier model.

MotorTrend notes that Chevrolet “took a bolder approach” when designing the Blazer with the grille extending “. . . nearly the entire length of the car’s front fascia . . ..” While still a good looking SUV on the outside, the 2019 Ford Edge has a more conventional look that buyers have become accustomed to in this particular segment.

Buyers of the all-new Chevrolet Blazer can look forward to a suite of the latest and greatest in on-the-road technology features. Equipped with a Chevrolet-first Cargo Management System that lets buyers customize their cargo space, the Blazer has a spacious and intuitive interior that offers a fantastic combination of style, versatility and comfort.

The 2019 Edge comes equipped with a more “structured” interior and center console with an embedded touchscreen. One cool feature that the Ford Edge does have in comparison to the Blazer is a Rotary e-Shifter vs. a conventional gear shifter which opens up space for cupholders, smart storage and USB ports.
